I have to admit, I was a little bit of a skeptic when my hubs told me that he was going to make me some almond butter in our food processor. I can’t believe my eyes or my taste buds! It’s so good freshly ground like this! We’ve been having trouble finding a place that has almond butter during this quarantine time and our local grocery store is out of the all natural almond butter every time we try to do local pick up.
Trav (my hubs) decided to order some large bags of almonds and make me some, since I eat this pretty much every day. It’s something that I can eat with so many different things, being grain free, and I love dipping different fruits in it…especially mangoes and strawberries!
It’s an easy peasy process too! He started by baking them on a cookie sheet for 10 minutes on 350 degrees. We read somewhere that you can use parchment paper but we didn’t have any so we just used the cookie sheet and it worked, I’m guessing, just as good.
Baking them helps to release the oils so that it gets creamy when using the food processor. I think it’s cute how they snap, crackle, and pop when they are cooling.
When they are done baking in the oven for 10 min on 350 and they have cooled, we put them in our food processor and started grinding them up.
This was after one minute of blending/grinding…
The almond texture will start to thicken. Make sure to scrap the sides every few minutes (until it starts to cream) to get the outer layer of almond mixture into the center.
It will start to clump like this after about 5 minutes…
About 20 minutes later, we had a fresh batch of super delicious almond butter. I may have eaten 3 large spoonfuls already. We did 2 batches of almonds. 3 1/2 cups of almonds made about a 16 ounce jar of almond butter.
I have to say this is the best almond butter I’ve tasted, and believe me, I’ve had lots of different natural brands.
It’s like the creamiest most fresh tasting almond butter I’ve ever tasted!
Trav: the best almond butter maker! Do you love almond butter as much as I do? My internal medicine doc told me to steer clear of peanut oils and I used to eat peanut butter all the time. So, a couple years ago, I switched to almond butter and I love it!

I am an almond butter FREAK. I like mine with celery or apples or off the spoon! This is a great visual! Where did you order the almonds from and how many ounces or pounds was the bag? AND how is the cost comparison with a jar off the shelf?

Go back to the 2nd paragraph, where it says large bag of almonds, and click on those words. Takes you to the listing on Amazon. I’ve also seen big bags at Sams Club.

Forgot my comment!
I’ve never tried Almond butter, but I love almonds so I’ll have to try it! My son in law is trying a gluten free diet due to stomach issues, so I’ll pass this idea along to my daughter. Wonder if you could use almond flour, to save the damage to processor blades? I’ll have to google that!
Stay safe and well!

Does it need to be refrigerated?

I love almond butter. You really only have to grind them up for them to become creamy? Amazing. I’m going to try it. Thank you for sharing.

After I get it nice and creamy I will add a little maple syrup to sweeten it up for my kids. They love it!
