Alot of you know that I eat these sweet potato chips almost every day. My oldest daughter is addicted to them now too, and I don’t even mind! It makes me feel so much better that my kids are eating these over bagged potato chips! The recipe is so super simple and I wanted to share it here due to all of the questions of details that I get after I share these chips on my IG stories.
This is what the sweet potatoes look like on the pan, prior to baking.
And then, 12-14 minutes later, you can dig in! These are by far one of my all time favorite healthy snacks!
I highly recommend some type of slicer! I used to cut the potatoes up with a knife and it took me 8 years just to get them in the oven. Now I use the Oxo slicer that you can find on amazon or at target, and I’m done slicing a whole potato in less than 2 minutes.
Super Simple to make…
- Set your oven for 375
- Wash and Slice the sweet potato/potatoes
- Spray your pan with your choice of oil (I use California extra virgin olive oil)
- Cover with oil (I just add some extra virgin olive oil to my hands and rub it onto the potatoes or sometimes use coconut oil)
- Use your choice of seasoning and sprinkle on the potatoes (“Butt Rub” found on Amazon is our all time favorite)
- Bake for 12-14 minutes, depending on how your oven cooks. I usually set mine for 12 minutes and then keep an eye on them towards the end and add a minute or two if I need to.
And that’s it! It’s such an easy way to eat healthier and I don’t feel bad about eating the whole pan…or two pans.

My entire family loves sweet potatoes and like you I’ve tried my best to cut those babies so thin but they’re never uniform. I am definitly going to buy the slicer. They look so yummy!

Sweet potatoes are my favorite and these sound really yummy. I think I need to buy a slicer and make these.
Thanks for sharing.

Awesome! They sure are good

I tried these today and I had trouble getting them crispy. The few that were crispy were almost burnt…. any tips to get them crispy? Broiler maybe?
Thanks!
(They still were delicious)

Hi Stacy! We have had issues sometimes with some getting crispy and some not, I think for us it depends on the thickness. If they are all similar thickness, they cook more evenly for us. May need to trial and error with temp for your particular oven

Thank you for sharing. I’m having trouble getting them crispy without burning them. Such a shame to have to keep making more and taste testing each one from every tray ????

Hmmm, sometimes it depends on the thickness. I’ve definitely had to trial and error several time and I’m sure everyone’s oven is different

Have you ever tried them in an air fryer?
My Vintage Porch says
I haven’t but that sounds like it would be yummo!!

I’ve made these a couple times and I can’t seem to get them crispy either. I see a couple other people have posted the same problem. I’m wondering if the humidity here changes how I need to bake them? I sliced them very thin with a slicer similar to yours and used olive oil. I thought I used too much oil the first time but I adjusted that on the second batch and I still couldn’t get them crisp….
My Vintage Porch says
I would definitely change things up and try again, sometimes the thickness being consistent is a problem for us but your oven may cook differently too ????
